Used in episodes:
- Robin Hood and the Sorcerer
- Cromm Cruac
- The Pretender
I know what you might be thinking. Wasn't this in Harry Potter? Yes it was, and Lacock Abbey owners are quick to tell you about it but us die hard Robin of Sherwood fans know it better for more than just a magic college.
Although we both went on the official tour of the upper part of the Abbey, we weren't that impressed. Leaving the main building, and heading round the right side, we made our way to the real reason we came here: the Cloisters.
"..it was Tuck's home of Thornton Abbey.."
How many times was this place used? Several. In Cromm Cruac it was Tuck's home of Thornton Abbey where he had his altercation with the Abbott. In The Pretender it was used for the Abbey of St Oswald of Angouleme, where Queen Isabella visited and was ambushed by Gisbourne. Finally, it was seen briefly in Robin Hood and the Sorcerer for Kirklees Abbey. The biggest scene was in The Pretender. After going through the door, walk around the cloister corridor to the first open room on your right (not up the little stairs .. .keep going). This was the main room in that episode where Arthur of Britanny fired upon the Queen and the fight broke out. Going back out of this, turn right, and walk down to the end of this section and through the doorway, bearing right. The room with the columns in housed the tied up monks and the small doorway to the back left of the room continues the story.
Go through the little door and you're in a small room with a triangular shaped column and window behind it. When this is lit up, you'd remember it. Just to the right of where you came in to this small room is yet another door. Go in there and there's the room where the Queen faces Arthur for the first time.
