Robin of Sherwood Chew Valley Lake - Area we believe was the flaming arrow ceremony.

This large lake is great for a nice walk, take a picnic and see all it has to offer. We went looking for the arrow ceremony location and the Nasir / Sarak duel beach.

This place is vast. We decided, early on, that we would look for places of access specifically capable of getting the trucks to the location while still being far enough from civilisation not to hear any noise on camera. We've been to many places where we've been able to identify the locations through this method and so, with that in mind, we parked up and set off.

"We decided, early on, that we would look for places of access specifically capable of getting the trucks to the location.."

Our first stop was where we thought the Nasir / Sarak fight took place. The only place we could see that didn't have signs of civilisation in the background AND had access away from any main road was the route down to the sailing club to the waters edge. If the filming crew had been given permission to go down here, there's certainly a strong possibility it was down here as the reeds were a bit of a giveaway.

We carried onward, clockwise around the lake and headed for the island. After much scouring of the episodes, we tried to see where the arrow ceremony could have been filmed and logic dictated we head for the island and the nearest land to it.

We arrived at Hollowbrook Lane, near Bishop Sutton and took a dive down a narrow track back towards the lake. "This is big enough to get trucks down" we thought, and, sure enough, there is a bridge just off the roadway over a thin strip of water. More than likely it isn't the same platform but this could have been the location they used. Alternatively, the cast (plus one handheld cameraman for the closeups) could have been sailed over to the island and been filmed shooting their arrows towards the mainland. That was always a possibility.
