Robin of Sherwood Map to Black Rock - Cheddar Gorge

It's walking time again around the beautiful Cheddar Gorge in Somerset. There's a real small parking area by Black Rock. Head for there and lets get started.

The small car park at Black Rock is easy to miss so be sharp. Pull up on the side and look for the sign. We came from the Chew Valley Lake side, towards Cheddar itself on the B3135 and so parked on the left hand side of the road. CRobin of Sherwoodsing over, we started our walk up the incline, through the gate and along the knobbled pathway. After a short walk of about 5-10 minutes, you'll round a corner, the trees'll vanish and you're staring at the distinctive Uffcombe Village rock face from The Swords of Wayland. Recognise it? It the mood takes you, and if you're feeling energetic (we weren't!!) you an scale the hill on the opposite side to capture the shot from the show. Going up the actual slope, where Much sat guard, is a little treacherous underfoot now due to several landslides leaving a pile of rubble at the foot of the slope.

"..and if you're feeling energetic (we weren't!!) you an scale the hill on the opposite side.."

Done here? Right, carry on along the path you came in on with the Uffcombe slope on your left. It bends around to the right and the access to the field for the Uffcombe photo is on your right. Keep going though because we're heading for Hathersage now from the episode of Herne's Son - Part 2. Check our map here for directions. A little way around, there's a gate with a turnstile next to it. Remember our rule of 'look for where production vehicles can get through'. Go through it and almost immediately on your left is a small path going up. Keep going and it opens out into a field so head for the brow. Welcome to Hathersage! The headland where Little John and Much look to to see Robin and Tuck on horseback is in sight. How cool is that?
