Used in episodes:
- The Betrayal
- Rutterkin
- The Pretender
- Various Wickham & village scenes
Certainly one of the biggest changes to an Robin of Sherwood location was this one. The Manor House Golf Club, as it now is, used to be the home of Wickham Village but now, all that remains, is the remnants of the bridge over the old river.
On our initial visit, a couple of years ago, we were directed to the 17th hole where there is indeed a bridge. However, this wasn't the one. Looking at a top down map of the course and referencing the information we had been sent by other dedicated Robin of Sherwood fans out there, we identified the very bridge used in the show. Heading past hole ten down the hill at eleven, we spotted it. There it was ... the bridge used in numerous episodes, none more so than The Betrayal for Robin and Roger De Carnac's final showdown.
"..And there it was ... the bridge.."
Clearly, a great deal has changed over the years, namely the construction of a championship golf course (designed by the well known Peter Allis, no less) and players of this magnificant course have to play over the bridge from one fairway to another to reach the green beyond where Wickham used to be. We stood and looked at the immaculate course but we could almost see the smoking huts in the distance. We sighed and prepared for the thigh blasting jaunt back up the hill towards the car park.
