Every Robin of Sherwood Nottingham Castle main hall scene
Now here's a thing of beauty: The Tithe Barn. I can't begin to count the amount of times this wonderful
structure was seen in Robin of Sherwood, but think 'main hall Nottingham Castle' and then walk into this place.
The first thing that hits you here is the atmosphere. It's so broody. Not surprising this was the key location
for Nottingham Castle. I can see Nicholas Grace now, perched on the dais at the end of the hall with that signature 'cRobin of Sherwoods' window
behind him that is just as wonderful today as it was back then.
"..I can see Nicholas Grace now, perched on the dais at the end of the hall.."
Looking around the barn, you get a real sense of history, especially the timber roof beams. It's only looking
back at the show and you realise how much the set builders actually had to do to convert this place into the
main hall of Nottingham (and not forgetting Huntingdon Castle hall in Herne's Son of course). We half
expected, when we walked in, to be able to 'go upstairs' but that whole rear of the hall you see on the show was constructed.
Magnificent!
This was one place that was well worth the visit. We left feeling a little closer to the Sheriff of Nottingham.
